About this resource

The second in a series of two modules, this learning module builds on the knowledge gained in 'What is Interest-based bargaining?' by exploring the interest-based bargaining process in practice. It explains how employees, employers and their representatives can adopt the interest-based bargaining process and what it takes for the process to be successful.

This learning module:

  • provides a range of case studies to unpack the difference between positional and interest-based approaches to bargaining and other workplace issues
  • helps you to identify the difference between interests and positions in these examples
  • sets out a five-stage process to adopting the interest-based approach to bargaining
  • features interviews with employer and union representatives who have used interest-based and positional approaches to bargaining.

Want to know more? Find out about how we can help with interest-based bargaining through our Collaborative Approaches Program. You can access guides, videos and case studies which show how the program has worked for other workplaces.
